ABOUT ME |
Introduction |
This e-portfolio serves as a compilation of my work as a student in the Master's of Educational Technology and Media Leadership program with the added Teacher Librarian Credential. I have worked as both a substitute teacher and library media assistant during my time in the program. Both of these positions have supplemented my learning by allowing me to apply the content learned in class which made my learning relevant and meaningful.
Many of the educational technology classes helped me develop lessons and become comfortable using technology-based tools in the classroom during long-term sub assignments such as wiki, plickers, TED, and more. Furthermore, the cataloging and digital literacy classes supplemented my library field experience through teaching me about cataloging and organizing materials which informed me and allowed me to be confident upon starting my job as a library media assistant. |
Autobiography |
My name is Erica Bustos and I am the only daughter in a family of five. Since I was very young, my dad always stressed the importance of education. Through his encouragement, I was able to attain a Bachelor's degree in English in 2013, an English teaching credential in 2015, and a master's degree in 2017 from CSULB.
During my years in school, I was able to begin gaining experience working with students. My first job was as an in-home tutor for struggling high school students. I then moved on to working as TA in an elementary school before I quit the position to complete student teaching. After student teaching I began working as a substitute teacher at various districts. Lastly, I was hired as a Library Media Assistant in March 2017. The various jobs I've held have allowed me to gain experience working with students from grades K-12. During my TA years, I was able to observe many teachers in the classroom and during my time as a substitute teacher, I was able to teach various grades and topics as well as complete several long-term assignments. Currently, as a Library Media Assistant, I am learning much about how to run a library and how to use and develop resources to support students in their classes. My plan for the future is to attain a position as a Teacher Librarian. |
Philosophy of Education |
My philosophy of education was first developed when I was in the credential program. It includes my perspective as an educator. I have recently updated it to include my thoughts about the teacher librarian field.
