Description: For my collaborative teaching project, I designed a presentation on the topic fiction and nonfiction to present to a third grade class. I incorporated interactivity by giving students elements to sort into fiction and nonfiction at the beginning of the lesson and then sentences to sort at the end of the lesson to evaluate effectiveness.
Attached are the Powerpoint, lesson plan, and sort activities. |

Description: One of the first activities I did for my field experience. This is a short presentation introducing the book Officer Buckle and Gloria. The presentation covers the author, K-9 Units, and some more books from Peggy Rathman. Included is a follow up activity for the class to complete back in their classroom and relates to the author's inspiration for writing the book.

Description: The scienceFlix brochure is intended to help students learn more about the website that is located at the ELC library main page but in student friendly terms and visuals. The idea is that students would be more interested in using scienceFlix after reading the brochure rather than a scienceflix provided explanation.

Description: At Lynwood High School, the library is in charge of receiving technology and resources for teacher use. IN order to keep track of all the new materials, we barcode and catalog sets and then check them out to teachers to create accountability for the items. One of the major products that came in were small whiteboard intended for student use in the classroom. Each interested teacher was able to check out a class set of 40 whiteboards.

Description: An administrative duty of the library at Lynwood High school is to clear students for prom. In order for students to be able to purchase a prom ticket, they must be cleared from the library and have completed a set number of community service hours. In order to be clear from the library students could not have any overdue materials or fines and a signature is required for verification. I think this is a great policy because it helps the library collect overdue materials or report items lost and get reimbursed from students in order to maintain an accurate collection.

Description: For my ethnographic research project, I decided to observe and interview one of the head librarians and several of our student library aides to get an understanding of how student aides are trained by the head librarian and how they interact with patrons. I also wanted to gather the student library aide's perceptions of the library and any suggestion they had for improving the library program. Attached is a summary of my research with an introduction, explanation of data gathering methods, findings, and implications.
